The city of Murales and ruins
Diamante is known as the city of wall paintings. Many paintings can be admired while walking through the alleys of the town. The idea of the "Murales" came from the Milanese painter Nani Razzetti, who proposed to the mayor of the time the project to revitalise the historic centre. The “Murales” project, which began in 1981, brought eighty-three painters from Italy and abroad to Diamante.

The ancient "Cerillae" rich in history and relevant architectural testimonies is also a must to see. Perched on a small promontory, it is formed by the ruins of the town and other important buildings.
Just look up at the top of the buildings to see real works of art. Each alley tells a story and each house, with its murals, represents a glimps and comic strip of the story.
Off the coast between Diamante and Cirella is the small island of Cirella. It can be easily reached from the beach, or from the marina of Diamante. The island is covered by a lush Mediterranean scrub, which lights up in spring with beautiful blooms.
It is one of the most famous events that take place in Diamante: the Chilli Festival. The festival started in 1992 and every year has recorded an increase in participation. It is a real journey to discover ancient flavours and those traditions jealously guarded by the Calabrians.
